What is a Farm Hub?
Our farms serve as the vibrant centers for all the work we do around local, sustainable food and act as centers for the holistic system we envision to strengthen the growth of local, sustainable foods in the Philadelphia area. Our Farm Hubs support youth and adult education on the farms and in the classroom and include traditional production farmland, demonstration gardens, an organic orchard, and pick your own fields.
Our farms represent a range of solutions for building communities and providing access to local, fresh food. Our aim is to make local, organically grown food accessible to all, and through our hubs we seek to bring together diverse communities by offering both traditional CSA shares for families and individuals and Community Supported Shares for those without regular access to fresh foods, as well as running a vibrant local Market in Collegeville, and participating in area Farmer's Markets.
Our farms are also dynamic training grounds for a new generation of farmers. Through a broad range of projects – from CSA farms to farmers markets, homesteading to orchard production – our trainees gain the skills they need to lead the new food movement and ensure the growth of sustainable food economies.
